afmetalsmithI did some pretty decent work in the studio today:
1. J's signet-style ring is coming along. I worked on shaping both the shank part and the part that will hold the enamel. It's now resembling a signet ring more than a piece of abstract sculpture, which is gratifying. Lots of work left to do on it, of course- and I still haven't really decided how to make the setting part- but progress!
2. The second Confetti Ring is now circular and rough-polished. The next step will be to lay out the placement of the stones. This one is a size 8.5 (American), so if anyone wants to make a claim on it and have input into the stone selection, speak now! Else it'll probably be similar to the previous one, except I may include a black diamond if I feel so inspired.
3. My handmade marquis setting is now done, and I wired it to the ring with binding wire preparatory to soldering it.
As usual, there were a number of other bits and pieces, but these were the highlights. I'm pleased!
