afmetalsmithA year or so ago I got a very lish book about historical rings, with many enticing photos. (I'll post a link later if anyone's keen.)
I've been slowly browsing through it and- wow. So many cool ideas! My current favorite is a "memento mori" ring that would work really well as a pirate ring- it's got a skull, and the shank is 2 stylized bones. I am itching to get out the wax and the carving tools and carve myself a master...
The skull-themed rings where the skulls are lockets that, opened, show a coral or ruby or garnet heart-shaped stone are conceptually really nifty, too.
Had I but world enough and time...! but I'm adding something like this to my "want to do" list.
