Lark Books is soliciting contributions for a book showing "500 Wedding Rings", with the pics due Dec. 1. The subject matter includes engagement rings, specifically.
I would really love to be able to propose an entry or two! So if you have any hankerings after a somewhat un-traditional and unique, handcrafted wedding ring/commitment rings/engagement ring(s), PLEASE let me know ASAP! We'd have until Dec. 1 to get the things designed, made, and photographed. Your name(s) would not be necessary to cite if you'd prefer not.
I did say I was looking for new commissions!

Date: 2006-10-04 10:04 pm (UTC)Seriously, I don't think I could wear a ring like that. I'd be too paranoid. It would end up sitting in a safety deposit box at a bank, twinkling sadly into the darkness.
Well, whether she's interested in time for the book or not, I'd love to work with her to design and crate something more practical, but still really cool. I may or may not propose anything for the book- it depends on how a lot of other stuff stacks up. Nonetheless, i really enjoy commissions, and working with someone to realize their vision- it's always an interesting and educational process for me, and stretches my boundaries. And that's fun!
Feel free to tell me when I can make you a confetti ring! :) Right now I have an argentium experimental one in the works. I am not thrilled with it, because I can see the solder seam; J says you can't see it unless you're looking for it, but I can and to me it stands out. Sparkly stones will distract from it, though. I think it's a 7.5 or so in size. I need to research whether the stones I want to use will stand up to the hardening temperatures, and then probably try baking a few to see. If they don't, I guess it's sapphires in the argentium...

Date: 2006-10-05 12:19 am (UTC)I adore sapphires. They come in so many pretty colors, and are very sturdy, and sparkly and pretty! I am a horrible sucker for sapphires in general, with particular weaknesses for orangey ones and really intense blues. I tend to want to buy every parcel of mixed-color sapphires that I see....
