Feb. 19th, 2007 07:29 pmYou know, if I wanted to be a Web guru, I'd be a Web guru and not a metalsmith. Sigh.
This means that I've been spending at least as much time and effort lately on updating my website as I have in the studio doing metal things. And it's not as much fun. Nor is it even visible now; since I'm doing a pretty comprehensive re-working, I need to finish that before I can post the results of my labors in the CSS salt-mines.
But I did spend a few hours in the studio today, and am making progress on several things; the Crow Moon scent lockets, my most-immediate commission, and some plique earrings (along with various bits of other things). This is some consolation for having to spend a lot of time on website stuff.
Speaking of the Crow Moon scent lockets: I decided, after the disaster that was #1 and the lack of success in #2, that doing it all with fusing was unrealistic for this project. So I'm using a hard argentium solder that I hope will not be obnoxious, color-wise.
I am, though, still intrigued by argentium. Especially after spending more time than I would have preferred removing firescale from part of the commission piece...

Date: 2007-02-20 03:22 am (UTC)I'm debating whether to do a bottlecap (a skin, not a completely-silver one) for Crow Moon. Maybe I'll wait to see if I like the scent. The lockets might be done this week, though- I hope so!

Date: 2007-02-20 03:59 am (UTC)So I figure with the LEs- they are what they are, and at least I'm not thinking that i can get more, when BPAL does not seem to be able to do consistent scents reliably. Which is, I think, a serious problem for them though I do like much of their stuff.
I'd hoped to get a better idea of what I do and don't like, but so far I haven't found many common elements- except that sweet foody generally turns to play-doh on me. :P
