afmetalsmithToday I have almost finished one of the new Confetti Rings. It's drying now, after the penultimate polishing step; later tonight I'll hit it with rouge and wash it again, and it'll be done!
After a lot of experimentation and frustration, yesterday I finally worked out a reasonable approach to delicate soldering on a big- not heavy, just awkward- piece. It is to be hoped that I will now be able to get all the 15-25 remaining solders done fairly efficiently and effectively! I am fully expecting polishing it to be a real treat, too. Sigh.
The weather was cool and temporarily non-humid yesterday, so I got lots of the windows in the studio opened and ran the ventilation full-blast for a while to air it out. It was getting stuffy! The humidity has picked up again, so it's closed off with the a/c on now, but it was nice while it lasted. :)
I haven't been in the studio as much this week as I generally try for, and that's one reason the list of accomplishments isn't great. I have been spending some time on some of the other necessary tasks, like sketches and emails etc. for commission work... but that's not as satisfying as studio work, of course!
