May. 16th, 2009 05:46 pmI've had a pretty productive week- finished up a couple of commissions, and made good progress on others.
Tomorrow is Birthstone Jewelry Day: I have 2 pretty elaborate birthstone pieces that I plan to focus on, esp. now that the prior commission work is done.
In the meantime, I just need to add a bail to the St. Brigid's Cross I made out of half-round wire. This should be fun, since there's no nice flattish place to put it... Anyway, it's been an interesting experiment, but one I doubt I'll repeat. The wires are spaced slightly further apart than they are on my other ones- a look I'm not fond of, and it's a LOT harder to weave and keep stable until soldered, so I've been fighting it all along. Yeah, the half-round does look somewhat more straw-like... but I think the other problems, both with the look and the fabrication, more than counteract that. Still- interesting thing to try!
