No studio time today per se, but I did work on several projects that required computer time, mostly in terms of translating the artwork to a form I can fabricate in one way or another.

There is a LOT of photo processing and website updating I need to do as well. I think I need to do a double focus this week: finishing up a couple of things in the studio, and working on the pics and sites.

Do you use content management software or a HTML editor?

I think it would be called content management software- it's Adobe's Dreamweaver work-alike, so it more powerful than a pure html editor, plus it keeps track of keeping links sync'ed up, etc. It's not the editing the web pages that's the real problem- it's trying to figure out what to say, where to put what, all those pesky decisions. Similarly with the photos; lots of decisions on size, background, whether color correction will do or whether I need new pics, etc.

Nonetheless, I did do some of the photo stuff today, and may well have new web content within the week...

Just ran across this in [livejournal.com profile] tdj's journal: Tips for photographing jewelry (http://www.tabletopstudio.com/documents/jewelry_photography.htm).
It's mostly marketing to sell their tools, but the Make Blog occasionally features a home-made, cheap 'light case', such as this one (http://www.makezine.com/blog/archive/2006/07/diy_light_box.html), this one (http://www.makezine.com/blog/archive/2006/06/how_to_macro_lighting_rig.html), this one (http://www.makezine.com/blog/archive/2006/05/the_starving_student_offcamera.html), this one (http://www.makezine.com/blog/archive/2006/04/make_your_own_light_tent.html) and this one (http://www.makezine.com/blog/archive/2006/03/budget_diy_lighting_system.html), which could provide cheap alternatives.

Photographing your wares in an attractive, professional manner is perhaps the best marketing you could ever do. And with a bit of DIY savviness, it shouldn't even be expensive.
